Nieuport Gathering

Moving graphic novel. Nieport, 31 October 1914. Three soldiers meet in the trenches of World War I, each while fighting for their own and for each others' lives. Raoul Snoeck, Jean-Marie Philippe de Blic and Thomas Ernest Hulme: a Belgian, a Frenchman and an Englishman. Together they beat back the first wave of German attacks along the River Yser. It was the beginning of a friendship that would transcend life and death...The next day, shortly before they have to say goodbye to each other, they decide to meet up again exactly ten years later. Who will appear on 1 November 1924? In other words, who will survive the war? The soldiers were real-life soldiers and the book includes short biographies. Their meeting was invented, in order to create an overarching theme that emphasises the connectedness of all front-line soldiers.
