Great Women Of Greek Mythology: Antigone Of Thebes

Με μεγάλη χαρά ανακοινώνουμε την κυκλοφορία του επόμενου τεύχος της σειράς αγγλικών βιβλίων για μικρούς και μεγάλους που εισάγουν τους αναγνώστες στον κόσμο και στον πολιτισμό της αρχαίας Ελλάδας μέσα από τις εμβληματικές ηρωίδες της μυθολογίας, με θέμα την μυθική μορφή της πιο αμφιλεγόμενης γυναίκας της αρχαίας Ελλάδας, της Αντιγόνης.
Είτε πρόκειται για διασκευές κλασικών τραγωδιών του Ευριπίδη, του Αισχύλου και του Σοφοκλή είτε για πρωτότυπα έργα βασισμένα σε γνωστές πηγές, τα βιβλία αυτά έχουν στόχο να παρασύρουν τους αναγνώστες σε ένα ταξίδι γεμάτο περιπέτεια, δράμα, θάνατο και έρωτα, ενώ παράλληλα εστιάζουν στις γυναίκες που έπαιξαν τόσο σημαντικό ρόλο στην ιστορία μας -και συχνά εξακολουθούν να μνημονεύονται ως απλοί θεατές.
Η σειρά ξεκίνησε με τα βιβλία Μήδεια, Κίρκη, Ηλέκτρα, Ελένη, συνεχίζεται με την Αντιγόνη και θα ολοκληρωθεί τον Ιούνιο του 2024 με την Αριάδνη.
Κάθε βιβλίο μπορεί να διαβαστεί ξεχωριστά και μπορείτε να αρχίσετε την ανάγνωση με οποιαδήποτε σειρά, όμως υπάρχει ένα βασικό νήμα που εντέλει συνδέει όλους αυτούς τους χαρακτήρες και παρέχει μια ευρύτερη άποψη για το τι ήταν να είσαι γυναίκα στον αρχαίο ελληνικό κόσμο.


We are very pleased to announce the release of the next issue of the English book series for young and old which introduce readers to the world and culture of ancient Greece through the iconic heroines of mythology, about the mythical figure of the most controversial woman of ancient Greece, Antigone. Whether adaptations of classic tragedies by Euripides, Aeschylus, and Sophocles or original works based on well-known sources, these books aim to take readers on a journey full of adventure, drama, death, and love, while focusing on the women who they played such an important part in our history - and are often still remembered as mere spectators. The series started with the books Medea, Circe, Electra, Helen, continues with her Antigone and will be completed in June 2024 with Ariadne. Each book can be read separately and you can start reading in any order, but there is a basic thread that ultimately connects all these characters and provides a broader view of what it was like to be a woman in the ancient Greek world.

Vittorio Mattioli and Mike French are writers, translators and editors of texts and books. "Citizens of the world", they created the company Read Panda Editing, based in Estonia. Vittorio is Greek-Italian and lives in Athens and Mike (despite his last name) is British and lives in Brussels. They provide their services mainly in English, but you can also communicate with them in Italian, French, Greek, Icelandic and Spanish. The series Great Women of Greek Mythology is their first publishing work in Greece.

The special covers of the series have been designed by the talented illustrator Little Miss Grumpy. Born in Athens, she dreamed of becoming an actress, but eventually became one of the most promising illustrators of her generation. Her draws, sketches and paints for books and newspapers and creates objects with… personality.
