Squanderers return to deliver Skantagio, the follow up to their debut album, If a Body
Meet a Body (Shimmy-Disc, 2024). “We were in the studio for one day, and performed all
pieces on that first LP prior to breaking for lunch. Skantiago contains the pieces we
performed after lunch,” says bassist and Shimmy-Disc founder, Kramer. “We may be
Squanderers, but we don’t dally. And we don’t labour over our spontaneous inventions
while we’re in the studio.”“What we’re left with is not so much a pristine work of collective genius as a testament to
the transcendence that can occur when a group of individual geniuses sit down together
with no greater aim than melding their minds for a while. If only all our squanderings
could be so fruitful.” - Pitchfork (If a Body Meet a Body album review, 7.7)“Squanderers’ music pivots around improvisation, and shockingly little was decided in
advance of their convening; Kramer, Wendy, and David came to the group’s assembling
with the confidence of what would be would be, que sera sera. You couldn’t divine these
results.” - Ghettoblaster Magazine“The band don’t play it safe, and thank god for that. This isn’t a band that needs to prove
anything to anyone. They’re out there doing their thing, untethered and unpredictable.” -
