Reunited!

The author writes: The impetus for this book was an amazing life-changing event. In January 2006 The Salvation Army's Family Tracing Service contacted my brother in England to inform him that our father was trying to contact us. The last time John and I had seen Dad was some 60 years before. We had no idea where he was and thought he was probably dead, but it turned out that he was living in Sydney, Australia. Along with our wives, we travelled to Australia and had a wonderful reunion with a family we didn't know existed - a stepmother, two half-brothers, two-half-sisters, and their families! Friends said, 'There's got to be a book in this story', and so the idea for this title came about. I wanted the book to highlight the wonderful work of the Family Tracing Service and put this into the wider context of the other important service The Salvation Army gives in 126 countries around the world, so within these pages you will find: a brief history of the Family Tracing Service; an overview of The Salvation Army's development since its creation as The Christian Mission in 1865; some incredible examples from the case files of the Family Tracing Service; tips on how to commence your own search for missing relatives.
