The Road to Others

The fourth title in the Modern Chinese Masters series is The Road of Others by Anni Baobei. Baobei is a cult Chinese writer whose fictions generally turns around characters detached from life in big industrialised cities. Her fiction is celebrated for its romantic, artistic and individualistic characteristics, which prompt love among her passionate fan base. Shanghai drifters Lin and Vivian develop an obsessive online relationship. For Vivian, the virtual pleasures of their friendship would be compromised if the 'game' became 'real' but Lin's determination to find Vivian becomes a destructive passion.
