A wonderful little gem from a duo based in Freiburg and Hamburg and made up of former Kids Explode and Tapes personnel. Musically, it's a mixture of 90s emo with German lyrics, post-punk and enchantingly beautiful indie pop of the Arab Strap brand with a few sprinklings of Tortoise and The XX. In addition to the classic guitar-bass-drums triumvirate, the beautifully orchestrated, poignant synths, the discreet use of drum computers and the double or alternating vocals that appear time and again are particularly appealing. Alle Angst provides us with 13 songs that simultaneously pull us down and build us up, are playful and yet seem to carry us, make the world stand still and still lure us onto the dancefloor.
